چکیده

This article presents a case that highlights the importance of excluding underlying intracranial pathology in patient presenting with severe headache and positive xanthochromia. report demonstrated false-positive xanthochromia without subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) is possible acute bacterial meningitis when there combination traumatic lumbar puncture either hyperbilirubinaemia or raised cerebrospinal fluids (CSF) protein.

CEREBROSPINAL FLUID FINDINGS IN NEONATAL BACTERIAL MENINGITIS

Background : Meningitis is more common during the neonatal period than other periods of life and has a prevalence of one in 1000 live births. The similarity of its clinical manifestations with other infectious diseases makes it difficult to diagnose. The aim of the current study was to determine the relationship between age, sex, clinical signs and symptoms and laboratory test results of ne...

Lipocalin 2 in cerebrospinal fluid as a marker of acute bacterial meningitis

BACKGROUND Early differential diagnosis between acute bacterial and viral meningitis is problematic. We aimed to investigate whether the detection of lipocalin 2, a protein of the acute innate immunity response, may be used as a marker for acute bacterial meningitis. METHODS Transgenic mice expressing the human transferrin were infected by intraperitoneal route and were imaged. Cerebrospinal ...
